Raisin & Fruit Drying Chemicals

Wakman Group supplies potassium carbonate (K2CO3, 99% purity) in 25 kg bags from Chinese, German and Indian producers, delivered to raisin processing plants in Kabul, Herat, Kandahar, Parwan and Balkh. It is the standard dipping chemical used to dry grapes into golden and green raisins. Minimum order is one tonne (40 bags), and larger seasonal volumes are held in our Kabul warehouse before the grape harvest.

Grapes are dipped in a warm solution of potassium carbonate — typically 2.5% to 5% K2CO3 — combined with a food-grade dipping oil such as ethyl oleate. The solution removes the waxy bloom on the grape skin so moisture escapes faster, cutting drying time from around three weeks to under one week, keeping the colour bright and reducing mould losses. Exact concentration depends on grape variety, skin thickness and whether you are producing green, golden or sultana raisins.

Dipping oil is a food-grade ethyl oleate or olive-oil based emulsion used together with potassium carbonate in the dipping tank. Wakman Group supplies both in one shipment, so processors receive the carbonate in 25 kg bags and the oil in drums or jerrycans with dosage guidance for the tank size and grape variety.

Sulphuring with food-grade sulphur or sodium metabisulphite (SMBS) keeps apricots and figs light in colour and controls mould, within permitted SO2 residue limits for export markets. Potassium sorbate is used on packed fruit with higher residual moisture, and food-grade caustic soda is used for skin-checking and peeling. We supply all of these in 25 kg bags with certificates of analysis.

Yes. A large part of our warehouse stock is held in 25 kg bags and small packs so processors, bakeries, workshops and traders can buy one tonne — or even a few bags — instead of a full container. Potassium carbonate, citric acid, baking soda, xanthan gum, sodium metabisulphite, benzoates and sorbates, CMC, calcium chloride and water treatment chemicals are all available this way from Kabul.

For stocked items the minimum is usually 1 MT (40 bags of 25 kg), and delivery from our Kabul warehouse is same or next day. For items brought in to order, plan 3 to 6 weeks depending on origin. Payment is in AFN or USD, and we can deliver to your factory anywhere in Afghanistan.

Every lot ships with a manufacturer certificate of analysis stating purity, heavy metals and microbiology, plus MSDS. Halal and kosher certificates, food-grade declarations and origin certificates are provided on request for regulatory filings and customer audits.
